How many people can take part?

Up to ten people per course, so everyone gets hands-on time. Larger teams can run across multiple cohorts.

Do we need paid AI tools?

No. You can practise using free versions during training. We may demonstrate paid features and discuss which options could suit your team, but you do not need to buy licences beforehand.

Do you tailor the training to our industry?

Yes. The method stays the same, with worked examples and safe-use guidance suited to your sector. We agree any preparation with you before training.

How long is the training, and where does it take place?

Confident & Safe AI runs as one full day in person or two half-day sessions online, normally on separate days. In-person delivery includes UK travel and accommodation. See the course details.

What do we take away from training?

A practical method for choosing suitable tasks, prompting, checking outputs and deciding what to use. You practise on real work and begin developing prompts and safe working habits your team can reuse. Explore the methodology.

How much does training cost?

Founding training rates are £1,960 +VAT online over two half-days or £2,360 +VAT in person over one full day, for up to ten people. Standard rates are £2,450 and £2,950 +VAT respectively. Agree your date in writing and pay the 50% deposit by 31 December 2026; training can take place in 2027. The offer applies to training only. See pricing and offer conditions.

Which AI tools do you cover?

Tools such as Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude, with a focus on those relevant to your team. You learn how to choose a suitable tool, check its output and recognise when AI is not appropriate.

Who delivers the training?

The training is designed and led by Finlay Carmichael, founder of The AI Lab. His approach draws on nearly 30 years of building and leading a software business and the AI tools he uses and builds with every day.

Can I take an index without booking training?

Yes. All three Benchmark Lab indices are free and in Research beta. You can use them independently, with no requirement to book training or buy support. The Personal AI Index is open to individuals, whether or not their organisation takes part. Individual answers and results are not shown to their employer.

Which index should our organisation take?

The AI Adoption Index explores organisational readiness and use. The AI Governance Index explores governance policies and practice. Both include a free organisation report. The Personal AI Index provides a separate perspective on individual working habits.

Can we repeat an index to review progress?

Yes. Allow time for changes to become part of everyday work, then review repeat findings alongside evidence from practice. Check the index version, scoring and who responded before comparing results. During Research beta, comparisons are indicative. A higher score alone does not prove that training caused an improvement.

Do we need AI Adviser before booking training?

No. You can book training directly. AI Adviser is a separate option for leadership teams that want a business-wide AI plan, and its strategy package can be bought on its own.

What does AI Adviser include, and what does it cost?

The standalone strategy package costs £3,600 +VAT. It includes research, one strategy session on site or remotely, a written strategy report and one remote follow-up discussion. All work outside the strategy session is remote. Optional remote monthly advice costs £1,200 +VAT, with a three-month minimum, then rolling monthly. Training is separate, and the founding training discount does not apply. See the scope and monthly advice terms.

How are The AI Lab and Benchmark Lab related?

Both are trading names of The AI Adoption Lab Limited. The AI Lab provides training and strategic advice. Benchmark Lab develops the indices and provides their results and reporting, working with delivery partners including The AI Lab. Training and advisory support remain optional and separate from index reports.
